Hello, sewing friends!
We’re halfway through the All Missouri Shop Hop now and the fun continues! This year’s exclusive shop hop fabric presented a certain challenge for quilters and fabric enthusiasts alike, partly because it didn’t play well together as most collections do. I was determined to make something with it, though, and then it hit me – first and foremost, the All Missouri Shop Hop is fun! It’s a game for those who choose to participate and a project focused on the hop should reflect the fun of it. Many of the vintage quilts I come across (and collect) have fabric I would never dream of putting together, but that doesn’t make these quilts any less charming. Where there’s a will, there’s a way and so my very first quilt pattern came to be - Missouri ’23 Skidoo! I hope those who buy the pattern will have as much fun making it as I did!
New arrivals in the shop over the last few weeks:
- Eiderdown from Judy Newman – Beautiful florals in a pretty palette, this line is a dream for vintage fabric fans!
- A color refill and refresh of the Pindot print from Dutch Heritage. Inspired by 17th and 18th Century Dutch chintz, it may be the most authentic reproduction “blender” you’ll ever find!
- Sanderson’s Water Garden – a stunning combination of prints with Asian influence, this line is exceptionally beautiful and classy.
- Tilda’s Hibernation collection – What makes a quilt cozier than the very fact that it’s a quilt? Sweet, little animals curled up and sleeping winter away like the mice, birds and squirrels featured in this newest line from Tilda.
Amelie Grace, a 1930s reproduction collection by Maree St. Clair, will be the next collection to arrive at Stashworthy Fabric. Based on colorful flour and feed sacks produced during the Great Depression, this collection features bright, happy prints and is named after St. Clair’s granddaughters.
We’re also anticipating the arrival of a selection of reproduction prints from Petra Prins’ Dutch Heritage. These are a mix of beautiful and unique reproduction prints dating back to the 17th and 18th Century and they can help you create truly exquisite pieces you’ll love always.
Our evening sewing group, Be Sewcial, continues to grow in popularity! Due to popular demand, we’ve added a second night of Be Sewcial to the calendar each month – the second Tuesday of the month. Attend one evening a month or both – we’d love to have you there! Bring any (hand or machine) project you’d like to work on in the company of others. There will be treats to snack on, too! Be Sewcial dates in October are Tuesday, October 10th and Thursday, October 26th. Reserve your spot on our website calendar – we hope you’ll join us!
Classes we’ve added to the calendar for November are:
Zipper Pouch(Saturday, November 4th and great for beginner sewists and those hoping to make some presents for loved ones this holiday season). Read more about the class here.
The Adorable Crossback Apron on Saturday, November 11th – Best for those with a little more sewing experience and another item with great holiday gift potential, this apron is traditional and so fun! Details on the class are available here.
The September/October issue of Quiltmania should arrive any day now. Full of gorgeous quilting inspiration, this issue includes seven patterns and four feature articles (including one on the 20th Anniversary exhibit of the Festival of Quilts)!
Hope to see you in the shop soon!
Happy quilting, friends!
