Hello, sewing friends!
Thanks to all who came out to visit A Cut Above when it opened on April 22nd and in the last few weeks. It seems most who visit are finding inspiration and deals they can’t resist! If you haven’t been able to check it out yet – no need to fret. We add stock often, so there’s still fun to be had! We’re also continuing to schedule events in The Stash House - our classroom and creative space.

Next up is Stashworthy’s 2nd Story – a pop-up creativity boutique running Thursday, May 18th – Friday, May 20th from 10:00 – 5:00 featuring all kinds of creative vendors. Need a fabulous new pair of earrings (or three)? How about absolutely darling, one-of-a-kind 18” doll outfits to give the little girl in your world at the next gift occasion? Or exquisite hand towels to put in your guest bath when you have company coming over? Or the delicious cookies my husband has deemed “works of art that just have to be eaten”? All of these fabulous things (and more!) will be a part of Stashworthy’s 2nd Story. With no cost to attend, we hope to see you there! |

I’m also excited about the start of Be Sewcial – an evening sewing social group meeting the fourth Thursday of each month from 5:30 – 9:00. Bring your machine or hand sewing supplies and any project you’d like to work on in a group setting. It should be fun! Be sure to sign up to reserve your spot! |
We hung Madonna’s “Playful Pinwheels” quilt at checkout last month and people have been loving it! So she put her pattern in writing and we’ve added a class to our calendar on it that she’ll be teaching.
Keep an eye on our website calendar for more upcoming events and classes.

Get ready, Tilda fans! She’s worked some design magic again with Bloomsville, available for purchase on June 1st! An explosion of bright colors and flowers in bloom, this line is perfect for so many summer projects. The focal print, Garden Vista, was inspired by old chinoiseries and a motif found on a vase in a factory that closed its doors in the 1960s. Late Bloomer was inspired by Indian chintz and the Abloom blenders are bolder than most “blenders” and should be great fun to use in so many ways. We’ve ordered a plethora of precuts in addition to the entire line and we can’t wait to get our hands on it!

The Acorn Gatherer comes to us from a favorite Australian designer, Margaret Mew. A great fan of reproduction quilts, it’s no surprise her line is full of antique motifs in raspberry and teal, a bit of yellow and cozy brown for depth. The Acorn Gatherer is on its way to us now, so you may want to snag her most recent book, Quilts from La Gare & Other Mewsings, for the perfect source of inspiration!

Sienna by Max & Louise is arriving next month from Andover. A sweet palette of minty green, raspberry pink with blue, purple, brown and cream in a delightful array of coordinating prints (many with great fussy cutting potential!), this line is refreshing and just so pretty!
To learn more about this quilt and fabric designing duo, check out their blog – it’s chock full of eye candy!

Something else we could not be happier about adding to our product offerings is Quiltmania magazine. With our first issue on its way to us from France now, this is a magazine filled with beautiful photography and quilting features from around the world. Published every two months, each issue includes six original quilt projects as well as articles on quilt shows, leading quilt designers and their column, "Quilts and Enchanting Homes." Be sure to pick up a copy next time you’re at Stashworthy – you won’t regret it!

From June 15th – 17th and for the very first time, you’ll find Stashworthy Fabric in the vendor mall (booths 521 – 523) at Kansas City’s Regional Quilt Festival. A major event for quilters held every two years, this show features classes from a wide array of instructors on a huge array of topics, a juried quilt show, a fantastic vendor mall and more! It’s held at Overland Park Convention Center and you can learn more about it (and buy your tickets!) at kcrqf.com. We hope to see you there!
