Above the Fold ~ April Edition

~ Above the Fold ~

Hello, sewing friends!

Welcome to the very first newsletter from Stashworthy Fabric!

The crew at Stashworthy has been working on the upper level of the store for several months and we are finally ready to have customers see what we’ve been working on!  This Saturday we will open A Cut Above – a room stocked with some of our beautiful fabric at discounted prices to help us make room for more incoming lines on the main level.  The first ten customers to check out in store that day will receive a gift with our thanks for coming to see the new space!  All who shop that day will also get to check out The Stash House - our classroom and creative space.  Keep an eye on the website calendar for upcoming events and classes.

The first class we’ve added to the calendar will be taught by the fabulous Chrystal Corum.  She recently completed Material Girlfriends’ Double Bear Paw Quilt and to see it is to love it!  She’s eager to share tips and tricks on how you can make this quilt turn out as beautifully as hers did  - read more about the class here.

Not a fan of solids or grunge? You should see what we’d suggest you use instead!  We’re restocking Pindot and adding new colors to its rainbow this month!  Designed by Petra Prins and Nel Kooiman for Dutch Heritage, this print is a reproduction line inspired by 17th & 18th century Dutch chintz.  Having just a few colors of it in the shop for the last few months, we’ve been amazed by how well it compliments so many of the designers we carry. Based on its popularity at Stashworthy so far, we knew our customers would benefit by having more colors to choose from!

St. Etienne is a line by Kim Hurley for L’uccello that should arrive in the next few weeks.  Featuring reproductions of antique French florals in mostly small scale prints, this line was inspired by L’uccello’s archives of ribbons and textiles with many dating back to the 19th century.

Also expected to arrive this month are Stashworthy’s picks from “Leicester” by The Original Morris & Co. for Free Spirit.  This collection features nature themed patterns in luscious shades of green, yellow and vibrant bits of red alongside his distinct Arts and Crafts style.  I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again - you just can’t go wrong with William Morris!

Another great new addition on its way to us is an assortment of patterns from Treehouse Textiles of Australia.  Having first discovered Emma's creativity in seeing her “Sweet Sunday” quilt, I was delighted to explore her website and see all the lovely patterns she’s designed.  I am beyond thrilled to make them available to you here at Stashworthy Fabric! Keep an eye on our website to know when they arrive!

We’ve recently started carrying Bloc_Loc templates at Stashworthy, too.  We’re starting with a few shapes and sizes, but if there’s one you’ve been hoping to come across, let us know what you need and we’ll add it to our next order and notify you when it’s in stock!  For those who haven’t yet used one of their templates, you have to give them a try!  You’ll find that when the template groove locks into a seam, it eliminates ruler rocking for speedier and more accurate cutting.

Lastly – we’ve got another fun quilt show just around the corner!  The Sunflower Piecemakers Quilt Guild of Lansing & Leavenworth, Kansas will host their quilt show (a tradition of 25+ years!) on May 6th at the Lansing Activity Center (108 S. 2nd St.) from 9:00 - 3:00.  Just 30 minutes from Stashworthy Fabric and free to attend, we hope to see you there!
